What is EMR / EHR software?
Electronic medical records software keeps a patient’s medical history in digital form instead of on paper. It answers one question instantly: what has happened to this patient before? EMR vs EHR — and why it matters in India
People use the two terms loosely, but there is a simple difference. An EMR (electronic medical record) is the record within one hospital. An EHR (electronic health record) is designed to follow the patient between providers. India’s ABDM — the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission — is building exactly that portability through the ABHA health ID. Uyirly is a complete EMR inside your facility. It is not ABDM integrated today, and we would rather say so than use the word “ready”: there is no ABHA field and no health information exchange. What it does give you is the prerequisite — one identity per patient with the whole history under it, which is what any future linkage would attach to.

One record, safely shared
A shared record is only safe if access is controlled. What is the difference between EMR and EHR software?
An EMR (electronic medical record) is the digital chart of a patient within a single hospital or clinic. An EHR (electronic health record) is designed to travel with the patient across different providers. Uyirly is a full EMR inside your facility. It is not connected to ABDM, so it is not yet an EHR in that second sense.
Is the EMR ABDM and ABHA compliant?
No, and we would rather be direct about it than say “ready”. There is no ABHA field and no ABDM health information exchange in Uyirly today. What you do get is the prerequisite for any such linkage: one identity per patient with the whole history filed under it, held in India.
Who can see a patient’s medical record?
Access is role-based: reception, doctors, lab, pharmacy and accounts each see only what their role needs, and every change is audit-logged with who made it and when. Reads are not logged. The record is unified, but access to each part is controlled.
